Samsung galaxy S7 edge rooted?

I just started service with Metro & got a free phone which ended up in a washer long enough to kill though I managed to save the SIM card.
I put it in my Galaxy s7 & it wouldn't recognize the card. I took the phone & SIM to Metro & they tried a new SIM & it still wouldn't recognize it.
I bought it years ago on ebay, a bnib with tmobile as the network but used it on tracfone for years with no issues.
So why won't it work with Metro? Is it rooted? Is there anything I can do to fix it or am...
