Which one looks better. Original or Instagram?

I really like the look of the Instagram effect on this photos but it may also be overkill. That's what I'm wondering.

Does Instagram make photos look too good, ridiculous, ok, or simply better?

I gather selecting the effects to a given photo is in the eye if the beholder, but I like the results personally.
