Google Chat notification

I have tried to get my phone to light up the edge or even around the camera but nothing helps. I did install the Good Lock and then the EdgeLighting+ and followed their instructions. It works fine for a text but not chat. I went and added Chat to the Manage notifications. Didn't help. Is there something I'm doing incorrectly? When I get a chat message, my phone only beeps or what ever the noise is. Can someone help?
