Android Root issue

Recently i decided to root my Sony phone as is seems to be errors like sudden app opens, not working properly and so on. So my friend suggest me to root it and he recommended root master. So i download it and installed it normally. But once i click on root option nothing happen. and just close app. what could be the error? Or is there any suggested root apps for Sony devices?
