Unlocking Phone Issue

Hi Friends,
A buddy of mine´s keyboard is not appearing on his phone on lockscreen page to sign in. So he can´t login to his phone , He cant do factory reset also bcoz he cant lose his data and he doesn´t have ADB installed. He is trying to unlock his phone with either a cracked or broken screen, I can´t remember which one he said. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
