Video Stabilization - is there really a difference?

One of the things that stood out for me was the curiosity about the stabilization that Google was bragging about. Then the article I was reading posted one they made and I took my normal skeptical outlook. I don't take a lot of videos but whe I saw an opportunity to take two videos with the same conditions, I had to try it out.

This are on the same stretch of road, one right after the other, same mount, same length, but one with the stabilization on and the other off. Hopefully you can see...
