Complete backup of Phone to Desktop

I was looking for a way to completely backup a phone running Nougat to a computer, similar to what can be done on Itunes.

I was reading about Helium being a little glitchy with Nougat.

I came across this old post about using Android SDK. Has anyone tried using this with Nougat and any reason it would still not work?
