Mazda + Bluetooth = no joy

Bought a new car as detailed elsewhere. Mazda CX-5. 2016.5
Should have all the latest stuff, right? Bluetooth totally sucks through it. It will work fine for awhile and then it just starts cutting out and generally sounding horrible. Some times a reboot will fix it. Soe times it won't. Sometimes need to repair it. Just generally not working well at all.
Never had a problem in my old car with the BT adapter / aux in thingamabob. Never had a problem in my wife's car. Gotta be the car, right?...
